The Falcon 900 intercontinental range trijet is a revised development of the Falcon 50 and was manufactured between 1984 and 1999. Dassault announced its development on 27 May, 1983 at the Paris Airshow and the prototype, ‘Spirit of Lafayette’, first flew on 21 September, 1984. A second prototype flew on 30 August, 1985 nonstop from Paris to Little Rock, Arkansas. French and FAA certifications were awarded in March 1986 and customer deliveries commenced in the December of that year.
The Falcon 900 had a wider and longer fuselage than the F50 and could seat three passengers abreast, to a maximum of 12 within the cabin. It is powered by three Garrett TFE731-5AR-1C engines, has a climb rate of 3,755 ft per minute and requires 5,655 ft of runway to take off and 2,775 ft to land. It can cruise at 51,000 ft but can maintain a sea level cabin at 25,300 ft.
The Falcon 900C is a large intercontinental variant with room for up to 19 passengers. Announced in 1998 and introduced in 2000, the 900C combines the airframe and avionics of the Falcon 900B but incorporates the advanced Honeywell Primus avionics of the 900EX, without autothrottles. The 900C replaced the 900B in the Falcon product line with first deliveries in early 2000, and is in parallel production with the 900EX.
Variants of the Falcon 900 include the 900B, 900EX, 900C, 900DX, 900LX, VC-900A and VC-900B.
