PC-12 operator Vernon Aviation has opened an operations base at Scottsdale airport in Arizona, US. This is the second location for the company, the first being located in Farmington, New Mexico, and aircraft are hangared at the Ross Aviation FBO.
“We are extremely excited to expand our business,” says business manager James Pera. “Scottsdale plays host to some of the largest and most prestigious events in the country. Demand is high from both business and leisure travellers and we fill a niche for flights that are typically one to three hours across the immediate surrounding western states.”
He talks about re-educating the public about using a turboprop for private charter, when the first thing that typically comes to their mind is a large business jet. “People immediately assume that they can't afford it. Once educated, our clients are pleasantly surprised to find out that there are various price points, aircraft and options for all budgets. And the business owners really grin when they find out it's a tax write off,” he adds.
