MT-Propeller scoops Colombian STC for Beech 1900 series
The Colombia civil aviation authority has given its approval for the installation of five-blade composite propellers on Beech 1900, 1900C and 1900D twin engine turboprops.

MT-Propeller has received the acceptance of the EASA STC 10070090 from Aeronautica Civil Colombia for the installation of the Quiet Fan Jet MTV-27-1-()-C-F-R(P)/CFR260-65() composite propellers on the Beech 1900, 1900C and 1900D aircraft powered by two P&W PT6A-65B or -67D propeller turbines. This installation is already certified by EASA, FAA and TCCA Canada.

MT-Propeller vice president Martin Albrecht says that installation of the five-blade MT-Propellers provides the following advantages over the original four-blade propellers:

- The smaller diameter of about eight inches means a greater ground clearance of about four inches for less FOD, also more clearance to the fuselage and therefore less cabin noise from the prop tips.

- Take off is improved by four per cent, so compared to the original AFM, a higher safety for the calculated take off run

- No propeller ADs

- Noise reduction of up to five dB(A)

- Bonded on wide chord nickel alloy leading edges give superior erosion protection of the blades

- The TBO is 4,500 hours or six years, whatever comes first, giving low maintenance costs

- No intermediate inspections are needed between the TBO, which requires the propeller removal

- Reduced costs for spare parts, like blades and lower overhaul costs, for the complete propeller assembly

- No rpm restriction for the complete operational range

The long time proven MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction. They have no life limitation and are repairable in case of a FOD. They also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation.
