Brazil approves MT's five-blade upgrade for Commanders
Commander 690/695 owners in Brazil can now opt for MT-Propeller five-blade scimitar props, which deliver shorter take-offs and faster cruise.
MT-Propeller says its five-blade props have 'unbeatable aesthetic ramp appeal'.

MT-Propeller has received a Brazilian STC for its Quiet Fan Jet five-blade scimitar composite propeller on the Twin Commander 690/695 Series with certain Honeywell TPE-331 engines. The installation is already certified by EASA and the FAA.

MT-Propeller president Gerd Muehlbauer says that the installation reduces take-off distance by around 10 per cent, enhances cruise performance by three to four kts, and offers cooler ITTs during engine start up, thereby minimising engine wear and the risk of hot starts. Lighter than the original propellers by eight kg (17,7 lbs) per propeller assembly, the upgrade reduces cabin noise between 3-5 dB(A).

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades have no life limitation and are repairable in case of a FOD incident. The company says they also provide the best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on nickel alloy leading edges for superior erosion protection of the blades.
