CanadaThe first Global 6500 aircraft has been inducted in its completion centre in Montreal, moving it closer to entry-into-service later this year. “We couldn't be happier to welcome the first production aircraft in our facilities in Montreal, where high-precision completion work is being carried out on the new business jet,” says Bombardier Aviation vice president, programme management Julien Boudreault. “With the longest range, largest cabin in its class and smoothest ride, the Global 6500 boasts an innovative interior design and enhanced performance, offering the convenience and state-of-the-art technology our customers have come to expect from the Global family.”
Flight testing is progressing well, with 90 per cent completed at the test centre in Wichita, Kansas. The first flight test vehicle has successfully completed all mission testing and is now retired. The Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engine is delivering on the total performance expected and FTV2 and FTV3 are performing exceptionally well throughout the rigorous programme. Together with the new wing they make the aircraft faster and more efficient. The Global 6500 boasts optimal operating costs that outmatch all other aircraft in its class, along with the built-in systems redundancy and robustness for which Bombardier Global aircraft are renowned.
The Global 6500 delivers a range increase of up to 1,300 nm when operating out of hot weather and high-altitude conditions thanks to increased engine thrust and improved overall fuel efficiency. With a top speed of Mach .90, it can connect Hong Kong or Singapore to London and Toluca to Madrid non-stop. The re-imagined wing brings flexibility and redefined aerodynamics to ensure a smooth ride from takeoff to landing.
A redesigned cabin also debuts the Nuage chaise, ideally suited for long-range flights.
