Swiss RUAG Aviation, in partnership with Aflag Group, has introduced the Dornier 228 to Oman at a private reception for senior members of the Royal Oman Police, Royal Air Force of Oman and Ministry of Tourism as well as representatives from the private sector, at the Al Mouj golf course. RUAG flew demonstration flights over three days for these organisations.

The Dornier 228 is currently deployed in a number of different roles worldwide including maritime and border patrol, pollution monitoring, military utility and training and as a sightseeing aircraft in the Grand Canyon in the USA. The aircraft has 19 seats and has renowned short-field, hot and high and unprepared airfield capability.

“No other aircraft can perform surveillance flights more efficiently than the Dornier 228,” states RUAG director of sales Philippe Erni. “The borders of the Sultanate and the exclusive economic zone can be supervised in the most cost-efficient ways.”

The 228 is also suited to training pilots, as it has a modern glass cockpit and flight management system, as well as crew coordination.
