GainJet Aviation of Athens has acquired a Legacy 600 jet to add to its managed charter fleet. The aircraft was built in 2007 and the operator says it remains in excellent condition. It can host up to 13 passengers and has a large baggage hold. The cabin is configured with six vip seats, a club four dining seating area, and three-seater sofa. The Legacy is also capable of a six-hour, 3,050 nm intercontinental flight range.

GainJet president, captain Ramsey Shaban, is proud of the latest delivery: “We have no doubt it will be popular among our clientele. Its comfort and size, combined with its onboard features, make this one of the best super mid-size private jets on the market.”

The company's fleet includes Gulfstream G550, G450, a Global Express XRS and a Challenger 604, with the delivery of a G650, currently undergoing completion, expected later this year. It also operates several executive airliners including a vip Boeing 757-200 with 62 seats and stateroom. A third vip Boeing 737 arrived in summer 2013. “The acquisition of our new Legacy 600 fills a void that once existed in the GainJet fleet and we're glad to welcome it to the team,” continues Shaban.

“Historically, we have operated eight midsize and super-midsize aircraft in the region, and gradually as this market dwindled in the financial turmoil, we found there were less charters going on and the profit margins were becoming thinner and thinner. We then moved towards the larger cabin aircraft and long range types.”

GainJet is looking to provide its customers with the best possible solution for their vip travel needs, and Shaban believes that having a diverse fleet will assist him in that mission. “With a wide selection of aircraft at our disposal, we can ensure the customer gets the right jet for their needs.”

As to the age of the latest aircraft, he feels that its performance will be as good as new: “Rather than go for a full blown, full value aircraft, a secondhand, relatively young one does the same job.”

GainJet are currently in talks to purchase a GIV-SP, which will be fitted out with a medevac kit. It will perform a 'dual alternating role' between medevac and charter and it is hoped that it will enter service in early summer.
