GI Aviation in Abu Dhabi, the first operator in the Middle East region to become certified for single engine night, instrument and commercial operations, has hired two additional captains, bringing its total to six, and is on the lookout for two more. Its second PC12-NG, which was delivered earlier this year, will be completely certified for operations imminently. “Our Pilatus fleet will focus on a niche market of two to three hours distance from the hub of Abu Dhabi and our satellite station with Falcon Aviation Services at Dubai World Central airport in Dubai,” says general manager Patrick Gordon. “We are targeting a wide group of travellers who appreciate all the benefits of private charter including saving time, added convenience, point to point journeys, crew discretion and security.”
Maintenance has been sub-contracted to Falcon Aviation Services (FAS), which also provides hangarage for the aircraft at Al Bateen. FAS has sent four mechanics for training on the PC-12 at Pilatus' factory in Switzerland. Flight crew training has been subcontracted to both Etihad Airways Training Academy and Abu Dhabi Aviation's newly completed training centre.
Captain Gordon has close to 40 years of experience flying in the Middle East, 10 of which were gained in Saudi Arabia and 27 in Abu Dhabi.
