Duncan offers NDT and moves Texas satellite shop
So far, it's been a busy year for the 28 Duncan Aviation satellite shops and workaway stations, as the company prepares operators for ADS-B. Nondestructive testing capability is another string to its bow.
Only a handful of facilities have been trained to meet Falcon NDT requirements.

Duncan Aviation is now offering nondestructive testing (NDT) mobile services for aircraft operators. The company has highly skilled in-house NDT teams (Level 2 or higher in all four methods) that provide eddy current, fluorescent penetrant, ultrasonics and magnetic particle inspections on all makes and model aircraft, including helicopters.

On-the-road NDT services are vital to operators who perform smaller in-house inspections in their hangars. “Although we would love for them to come to Duncan Aviation for all of their aircraft maintenance, we understand why some operators elect not to relocate their aircraft,” says Kasey Harwick, Duncan Aviation's VP of maintenance. “We work with them to facilitate their NDT requirements so that they can do just that.”

Duncan Aviation's capabilities include authorised Dassault NDT in the western hemisphere. Only a handful of facilities have been trained and authorised to meet the stringent Falcon NDT requirements. Dassault limits the number of Falcon NDT technicians certified at any given time to ensure proficiency. Of the 22 Dassault-certified technicians in the western hemisphere, five come from Duncan Aviation. Mobile NDT services can be scheduled from the company’s three full-service MRO facilities at Lincoln, Nebraska; Battle Creek, Michigan and Provo, Utah.

Duncan Aviation has also moved its satellite avionics shop in Dallas, Texas, to a new facility. Long-time partner Tectonic Management Group built the new hangar complex for another long-time Duncan Aviation partner, Business Jet Center at Love Field. The Dallas avionics satellite shop now has dedicated hangar space and new shop and office space that let the Dallas team work on aircraft inside the hangar, including a more organised avionic testing bench and a spacious new office in which to greet customers.

“Our customers will notice right away that this new space is far larger than our previous hangar. We'll get a boost in efficiency because the additional space lets us spread out and develop a more organised work flow for parts and installations,” says Dallas satellite shop manager Bryan Davis. “In this new hangar, there's no walk-in access, so our customers and their aircraft will be more secure, too.”

Satellite ops manager Matt Nelson adds: “Business Jet Center and Tectonic Management Group have been wonderful to work with, and they've set us up for success in the Metroplex for years to come. We're in the same complex on the north side of the airport, so our customers will be familiar with the location.”
