Midwest US maintenance provider Elliott Aviation has achieved Canadian certification on its STC for Honeywell's dual NZ-2010 FMS 6.1 upgrade in the Hawker 800, facilitating WAAS/LPV approaches. The STC covers the latest operating software, 03040. The certification covers all Hawker 800s with Honeywell's SPZ-8000 avionics suite. In addition, it has received EASA certification for its ADS-B STC on Citation 560 Excel/XLS Honeywell equipped aircraft. This STC uses remote mount Garmin GTX-3000 smart transponders and replaces the current Honeywell transponders giving the aircraft both ADS-B Out and ADS-B In.
The NZ-2010 03040 for Honeywell-equipped Hawkers unlocks the full capability of WAAS/LPV approaches as well as database enhancements such as circle-to-land approaches, improved holding patterns and vector-to-final approach.
The Citation 560 Excel/XLS ADS-B STC does not require any of the current Honeywell equipment to be sent out for upgrades, removing the risk of having additional repair costs the current Honeywell programme has seen, and is priced up to 40 per cent lower than the current Honeywell upgrade. In addition to the Citation Excel and XLS, this STC can also be applied to any aircraft with the Honeywell Primus II radio package like the Hawker 800A/800XP and Hawker 1000.
The solution also provides integration to existing cockpit controls including TCAS-II equipped aircraft. In addition to ADS-B Out, this STC includes ADS-B In through a Bluetooth compatible device through Garmin's Flight Stream wireless platform. The STC is similar in design to Elliott's Garmin ADS-B solutions for other airframes including the Collins equipped Hawker 800A/800XP/750/850/900, Beechjet 400A/400XP and Premier I and IA.
“We are happy to offer these STCs to our international customers,” says VP of avionics programmes and operational logistics Mark Wilken. “Our solutions give customers with legacy Honeywell avionics systems the ability to upgrade their equipment without expensive manufacturer updates.”
