The TBM Owners and Pilots Association (TBM OPA), which represents operators of TBMs worldwide, has elected David Scobey as its chairman. Scobey is a retired president and CEO of AT&T Southeast, and has been a passionate pilot since his college years. An owner of a TBM 850 since 2010 and a member of TBM OPA, he joined the association's board of directors last year.
“The Daher team looks forward to working with David in his new role,” comments senior VP of Daher Airplane Business Unit Nicolas Chabbert. “We recognise his commitment to flight safety and we are convinced he will continue the excellent partnership established by his predecessors with Daher for the benefit of the TBM community of aviators.”
Scobey adds: "I look forward to representing the collective needs and interests of TBM operators. I am blessed to own such a fine aircraft as my TBM 850. Climbing into the cockpit is a joy on each and every flight.”
Andrew Knott will retire as TBM OPA's executive director at the end of this year, having held this post for 12 years. “Andrew has done a fantastic job for this organisation and we wish him many happy hours of flying in retirement,” Scobey continues.
The TBMOPA's board named Misty Stanistreet as Knott's successor. As Daher Airplane Business Unit's event manager for more than 10 years, she is already familiar with TBM aircraft and the OEM's network of owners and operators.
TBMOPA was created in 2003 for owners and operators of the Daher TBM aircraft. The objective of the organisation is to promote safety and to maximise the pleasure and utility of the ownership experience.
