Diamond DA42-VIs join KLM training fleet
The twin piston fleet is ageing fast and in their place come Diamond DA42-VIs. KLM Flight Academy prefers the quieter engines and advanced avionics.
KLM Flight Academy is moving over to a Diamond-based training fleet.

KLM Flight Academy has replaced its twin engine fleet with a full DA42-VI fleet and has recently received its third DA42-VI at Groningen Airport Eelde in the Netherlands.

Head of training Mark Gerritsen comments: “The recently delivered DA42-VI is the third aircraft of this type in our fleet. Its advanced avionics and economical, low noise jet fuel engines make it an excellent training aircraft that prepares our students really well for their type rating training phase after completion of the DA42 lesson programme.”

Diamond Aircraft Austria sales and marketing director Amila Spiegel adds: “It is great pleasure to have KLM Flight Academy on our long list of renowned international flight schools. I am sure that it will be very pleased with our 21st century trainer aircraft benefits - from a significant cut in fuel costs and a reduction in noise pollution complaints to reduced transition times thanks to airliner-like cockpits, to name only a few.”
