Duncan Aviation earns approvals for its Cessna and Hawker ADS-B STCs
The FAA's ADS-B mandate deadline approaches and recent approvals mean Duncan Aviation is well placed to assure compliance for Canadian, Mexican and European Cessna 560/560XL and Hawker 800/800XP operators.

The engineering and certification department of US maintenance provider Duncan Aviation has received approvals from three civil aviation authorities for its supplemental type certificates ST01810WI and ST01811WI that upgrade the Honeywell Primus II system for Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast-Out (ADS-B) in Cessna 560/560XL and Hawker 800/800XP aircraft, respectively. Initially approved by the FAA in December 2015, the STCs have now been accepted by Transport Canada Civil Aviation, Mexico's Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil and the European Aviation Safety Agency.

With these approvals aircraft registered in the countries that abide by those three civil aviation authorities can now access these two Duncan Aviation STCs and comply with the FAA's 1 January, 2020 ADS-B mandate. Without upgrading to ADS-B by the mandate deadline, aircraft will face limitations or be denied the ability to fly in US airspace.

“We're proud to secure these authorisations because they let our customers from Mexico, Canada and throughout Europe know that we are committed to and respectful of their processes and procedures,” says engineering and certification business development manager Shawn Carraher. “It's important to Duncan Aviation to be able to provide service to all of its customers, regardless of their global location, and these approvals provide more options for those needing ADS-B STCs around the world.”

Additionally, the department has been developing other STCs to give aircraft owners and operators as much choice regarding ADS-B equipment as possible. The company now holds or has access to 42 STCs for FAA-approved ADS-B equipment, which allows the company to perform upgrades on more than 100 aircraft models.

Duncan Aviation has three main facilities in Battle Creek, Michigan; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Provo, Utah as well as a network of satellite avionics shops located at some of the busiest general aviation airports in the US.
