Through an international tender, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has named Germany-based flight inspection systems specialist Aerodata as turnkey supplier for two new flight inspection Beechcraft King Air 360s. Both aircraft will be equipped with a state of the art, fully automatic flight inspection system (AFIS) from Aerodata's AeroFIS series.
The AFIS will be individually customised in order to comply with the demanding requirements of AAI.
With the new aircraft AAI will not only be capable of inspecting all conventional navigation aids like ILS (including CAT III), VOR, DME, TACAN and NDB, but also SBAS, GBAS and all RNAV procedures, with the latest computer and software technology.
The AFIS will integrate the newly developed TSO-based receiver for flight inspection of GBAS GAST-C and GAST-D.
The position reference is a hybrid multi-constellation phase tracking GNSS solution that includes IRS, barometric altitude, GPS, SBAS as well as GAGAN, GLONASS and GALILEO and combinations thereof.
Development, production and integration of the AFIS will take place at Aerodata's facility in Braunschweig. Aircraft deliveries to AAI are planned for 2023.
The award of this contract presages the continuation of a successful and long lasting cooperation between AAI and Aerodata over the next few decades.
