The Luxembourg Air Rescue Group (LAR) has taken delivery of its first Airbus H145 D3 rescue helicopter. A second helicopter of the same type will join the fleet in the autumn. Over the next few years, LAR plans to gradually replace its current MD902 helicopters, which are approaching the end of their service life.
The addition of the H145 D3 is a further step towards modernisation of the LAR fleet. The first stage was marked by the acquisition of a long-haul Bombardier Challenger 605 ambulance jet in 2021, that allowed for longer range repatriations and more flexible operational capabilities.
The upgrade of its fleet will enable LAR to maintain the high quality and performance of air rescue and ambulance services for its patients in Luxembourg, the wider region and worldwide. It currently operates one Airbus H145 D3 and five MD902 rescue helicopters, plus one Challenger 605 and three Learjet 45 ambulance aircraft operated under the European Air Ambulance brand.
