MAC Aero Interiors, a UK subsidiary of Magnetic MRO, has completed a full VIP aircraft interior refurbishment project for a private charter flight management company.

The Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft was delivered to Magnetic MRO hangars in Tallinn, Estonia in September. The project scope followed a from concept to completion path and included the refurbishment of the seats, divan covers and cushions, including armrests, shroud and fairing covers in a design tailored specifically for the customer. In addition, it included lavatory refurbishments and carpet changes in the aircraft. New specially made perforated leather and fabric materials were introduced and certified for this programme to create a high quality interior. Prior to the interior refurbishment, the painting design concept was prepared and the aircraft was fully repainted in VIP finish at Magnetic MRO's painting hangar.

“Working on private jets is challenging and exciting at the same time,” shares Marko Männiste, MD at MAC Aero Interiors. “In times like these, when getting the desired materials is increasingly challenging due to re-imposed restrictions on movement between countries, the completion of such a project brings even more satisfaction. Of course, as we are able to provide one-stop-shop solutions for clients when it comes to maintenance, overhaul, painting, design as well as certification, flammability testing programmes, material sampling, manufacturing and installation, we were able to tackle challenges alike and could offer the client multiple services in one location, which, in cases like this, proves to be a great advantage.”

Magnetic MRO selected a variety of PPG Aerospace coatings to complete the project. It selected Embraer-approved PPG Desoprime HS CA7755BE epoxy primer, which provides excellent adhesion and corrosion resistance. The primer was used in combination with PPG Desothane CA8000 system in five mica and metallic colours, which provide operators with greater flexibility and choice for exterior livery systems. The Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft was finished with Desothane HD buffable clearcoat.

“Our application support centre in Hamburg, Germany worked closely with Magnetic MRO to provide technical support, paint samples and the blended coatings,” explains Ralf Maubach, PPG sales manager, aerospace, Central and Eastern Europe. “With five colours needed in a short time period, our team worked quickly with team members from our Mojave, California, facility to provide the samples and blended paints in specific package sizes.”
