Swiss maintenance and completitions provider AMAC Aerospace and Italian design house Pininfarina have developed an innovative cabin concept for the Airbus A350-900. The inspiration comes from Pininfarina's eclectic design expertise that ranges from the nautical to the architectural, and aims to create a space that is both comfortable and multifunctional.
The cabin lounge is sculpted along a flowing curve. Passengers are welcomed onboard via a drinks bar that leads on to a relaxation area, conceived as a cocoon, where sofas face a transparent giant screen that can either project images or let passengers enjoy the view. Further along passengers can eat or hold meetings in the dining area, where there is also a chaise-long green space for further relaxing.
“Our 360° vision for the living space was an innovative concept where passengers can feel as if they are in their own living room or office. The partnership with AMAC Aerospace, one of the most skilled completion centres, made it possible to turn this innovative concept into reality,” comments chairman Paolo Pininfarina.
“What we see today from Pininfarina is a whole new kind of cabin, harnessed with clever human input that manifests itself into areas that anyone can afford, work in, relax and utilise. The work that has gone into this concept sets the bar for the future, taking into account harmonised and social spaces, new technologies and exotic materials. Airbus has created a wonderful new wide-body platform and we are excited to see how much attention it can create in the private aviation market," adds AMAC Aerospace director of business development and marketing Waleed K Muhiddin.
Since the 1980s Pininfarina has designed interiors for private jets and commercial aircraft and has developed partnerships with AgustaWestland, Alenia Aerospace, Airbus, Bell Helicopters, Boeing, Leonardo, Iacobucci and Piaggio Aero Industries. Through its Bespoke division, Pininfarina offers custom-design for residential architecture and interiors, one-off cars, yachts and aircraft.
