Danish offshore rotary operator Bel Air has passed the 7,000 safe flight hours mark with its fleet of AW189 helicopters. The feat comes after less than three years of North Sea operations with the types. “We received our two AW189 helicopters from AgustaWestland (renamed as Leonardo in April 2016) in the autumn of 2014 and we were among the first to take delivery of this new and superior type of helicopter,” says MD Susanne Hessellund. “After tests and training in cooperation with the experts from Leonardo we celebrated our first flight in November 2014 and now we are celebrating again, as a 7,000-hour fleet leader worldwide.”
