GeorgiaAustria's Tyrolean Jet Services (TJS) has placed an order for a Gulfstream G650, which is set to join its fleet in the middle of 2015. The operator also showcased its ACJ319 as a demonstrator for Airbus Corporate Jets at NBAA last month.
“We had the biggest aircraft on the static display at NBAA,” comments ceo Martin Lener.
“We are already working on the set-up of the G650, the green aircraft delivery, and monitoring the entire completion. We also have to set up documentation and manuals for flight operations.”
TJS currently has three managed ACJs: one ACJ318 with extended range and two ACJ319s.
Continues Lener: “The Gulfstream and the ACJs are in different worlds. If you look at G650, G550 or Global Express, which Tyrolean also operates, these types give you high speed, a lot of range, and provision for up to 13 or 14 passengers, with a great cabin volume. But if you compare this type of aircraft against the ACJs and the BBJs, the result is quite different.
The ACJs and BBJs are playing in another league, with a much wider cabin, almost three times the volume of a Global. “The ACJ gives you not only more room, but it gives you more flexibility: you can have three cabins, a lounge, a permanent bedroom, a private office or space for an entourage cabin. But if you go to the BBJ or ACJ league of aircraft, youcan't fly so far, and you don't have the same speed as on a Global Express. Each of these aircraft types has its advantages,” Lener adds.
