PWI has introduced the PWI LED Ice Light and it has been designed for a variety of aircraft from turboprops to business jets.

It is a direct drop in replacement for several incandescent bulbs, including some used on the Baron 55 and 58, King Air model 90 series, 100, 200 series, B200 series, 300, 300LW, B300, B300C and the 99, the Cessna Centurion 210, P210, T210 and Conquest 441, the Cessna Caravan 208 and 208B, Citation 550 Bravo, 560, 560XL and 650 CVII and the Cessna 680 pylon flood light.

Regardless of outside temperatures, the Ice Light is designed for use at dusk and during night flights or when taxing and during take off and landing. It also requires significantly less power draw and is compatible with Beechcraft King Air and Baron models as well as Cessna's Centurion, Conquest, Caravan and Citation model aircraft. PMA certification is expected in December 2021.

“This is an LED that lasts much longer than the factory installed incandescent lights that burn out quickly,” says Robi Lorik, president and CEO of PWI. “The PWI Ice Light lasts 100,000 hours, which means less time and money replacing bulbs.”

It is designed to be more efficient and effective as well as benefit overall safety. It says it features many improvements over incandescent bulbs including enhanced visibility as well as eliminating the radiant heat that comes with them.

“We all know the ice light is valuable to pilots, not just for use in icy weather situations, but also for the overall safety of the aircraft,” adds Lorik. “This LED ice light provides added visibility and more peace of mind for pilots.”
