South Africa's Capital Air has invested in an entrol H01 FNPT II simulator, which is based on the Bell 206. Director João Paolo explains the motivation: “Our goal is not only to have 'in house' pilots trained to the highest standards but also be able to pass that knowledge and experience on to others. This will become so much more achievable with the entrol H01 simulator. We are now one step closer to our target.”
The simulator will be the first of its kind in South Africa and has a 180° x 80° six-channel spherical visual system, which is capable of multiple emergency mission and instrument procedures. It will be used for CPL/ATPL, IR courses, safety and emergency procedures training, NVG training and Bell 206 cockpit familiarisation.
Capital Air has been in business for over 25 years and is one of the most well-established helicopter companies in South Africa, owning and operating multiple types. Its specialisms include security, surveillance and charter, monitored by its control centre at Rand airport outside Johannesburg. The company prides itself on self-sufficiency by not outsourcing any of its services.
