Duncan's Provo centre welcomes first customer aircraft
With the fuel farm and first hangar under its belt, Duncan is working to complete its new and extensive facilities, which include a paint shop, at Provo in Utah by 2020.
An XRS needing ten year checks was first for service at Duncan's new Provo facility.

Duncan Aviation has welcomed the inaugural customer aircraft, a Bombardier Global Express XRS, into its recently constructed first maintenance hangar at Provo Municipal Airport in Provo, Utah. The workscope for the Global includes a 120-month airframe inspection and 10-year landing gear overhaul.

“We have been working hard to prepare and plan for our new maintenance and modifications centre in Provo and we are thrilled to have the first maintenance hangar ready and open for work,” says Chad Doehring, vice president of operations at Provo.

Duncan Aviation completed construction and obtained necessary permits for the first hangar at the start of the year, ensuring that it would be ready for this first project. Its fuel farm has also been brought online and the company is now providing full fuel line service to customers.

The paint facility is expected to be ready in early spring and a second maintenance and completions hangar structure will follow. By the second quarter of 2020, all of the full-service backshops and offices for the new 275,000 square-foot facility will be completed.

Preparation for the first project included more than bricks and mortar. To this end, Duncan Aviation has recruited team members from its other locations for positions at the new Provo facility. With around 100 staff now located in Provo, the company anticipates having about 180 by the second quarter of 2019 and 250 by the following year.

“Customers consistently tell us they bring their projects to Duncan Aviation because of our people,” Doehring says. “Our people have knowledge and expertise, are friendly and resourceful, and understand customer service at all levels. Our goal was to carefully plan our staffing to expand the overall feeling, culture and experience to our growing base in Provo. Customers who bring aircraft here will receive the same high level of experience that they receive at other Duncan Aviation facilities."
