Aeronorte sets sights on Learjet 45XR and Mustang as it targets new clients
Aeronorte expects to add a Cessna Mustang, a Learjet 45XR and possibly a Legacy to its fleet next year.

Aeronorte expects to add a Cessna Mustang, a Learjet 45XR and possibly a Legacy to its fleet next year. Jose Ribeiro, chairman, reports that both Aeronorte's aerial works operation and the air transport division, which focuses on regional and short haul flights, are enjoying rapid business growth.

"Both market segments forecast an increase in company revenue of up to 50 per cent," says Ribeiro. "This equates to a level of €19 million by 2012."

The Mustang is aimed at middle managers patronising short haul routes. These vary from the Oporto to Madrid and Oporto to Lisbon runs to shorter haul routes within the U.K. The Learjet 45XR will be operated throughout Europe. "The 45XR was chosen for speed and range and comfort," adds Ribeiro.

The company is looking for experienced pilots and ground crew to cater to demand. "We aim at 50 hours per month for each aircraft. So far business is growing and we have achieved this goal," says Ribeiro. Aeronorte is currently investing in new aircraft but has previously numbered pre-owned aircraft among its purchases.

Ribeiro says that, while Aeronorte aims to operate a fleet of five aircraft for charter, aerial work will remain an important area of operations. Aeronorte plans to showcase its expanded fleet at next year's EBACE.
