A CitationJet 525 under the management of Centreline Air Charter has undergone installation of the Garmin 750 avionics system. The installation is one of the first of its kind in the UK and was completed by the engineering department of Bristol airport-based Bristol Flying Centre, of which Centreline is a part.

The work was carried out following a request from the owner to upgrade and took three weeks. It involved the removal of the entire flight panel, removing and refitting most of the interior and enabling work on the aircraft aerials.

Centreline head of training Julian Telling oversaw the project: “The work carried out on this aircraft really takes the pilot into a new generation of avionics by incorporating all of the aircraft systems into one state-of-the-art, easy to use device. It also provides an additional level of safety, particularly because of the presence of the traffic collision avoidance system and terrain warning mechanism.”

The product provides the pilot with information allowing him to make better decisions regarding fuel use by taking a feed from the aircraft flight data which takes into account temperatures, altitude and fuel flows. This data can be then used to help the pilot decide how best to set the aircraft controls, resulting in efficiency for the owner.
