RUAG Aviation has secured authorised service centre status for the Leonardo AW139 helicopter at its locations in Sion and Lugano, Switzerland. This authorisation confirms RUAG Aviation as a full support partner for the AW139 helicopter, including all MRO and warranty services.

“The new type ratings for the Leonardo AW139 at both our Sion and Lugano locations enable us to support our customers with the full set of personal services they require, at a location convenient to their needs,” affirms general manager Andreas Baumann.

“We are keen to ensure they enjoy the same extensive portfolio of reliable solutions and proven expertise for their AW139 helicopter as they do for the other helicopters and aircraft in their fleet.”

Meanwhile Heli-One's Rzeszow, Poland, facility has received EASA approval to provide base maintenance service for Leonardo AW139 aircraft. Heli-One Poland's facility, which opened in 2014, provides base maintenance support for Airbus AS332, H225 and H135 aircraft. Additionally, Heli-One offers component repairs, including AW139 exhaust ducts.

“The team in Poland has grown its Leonardo AW139 expertise and capabilities extensively in the last year and we are excited to support this well-regarded helicopter type,” says Heli-One president Anthony DiNota. “This new base maintenance capability will give AW139 operators a competitive MRO option in a technologically-advanced facility strategically located in central Europe. The additional component and modification capabilities added also pave the way for this facility to become a market leader in maintenance.”
