Omni switches Guyana ops from Leonardo to Sikorsky
The Guyana SAR programme now moves into its next exciting phase, where Omni will be training new Guyanese SAR rear crews to safeguard life using a Sikorsky S-92A, which it describes as a magnificent aircraft.
Omni's S-92A SAR helicopter features a dual hoist, Nightsun, FLIR, a triple litter stretcher kit and an extended range fuel tank.

Omni Helicopters Guyana completed the transition of its Guyana-based search and rescue service from the Leonardo AW139 helicopter to the Sikorsky S-92A in July.

Omni's S-92A SAR helicopter features a dual hoist, Nightsun, FLIR, a triple litter stretcher kit, extended range fuel tank and has been dubbed ‘the world's most connected helicopter’ due to its installation with SkyTrac's Iridium Certus and cellular/Wi-Fi connectivity, capable of delivering dozens of mission-critical capabilities including automated flight following, medical data transfer and real-time HUMS alerting.

The Guyana SAR programme now moves into its next phase, where Omni will be training new Guyanese SAR rear crews to safeguard life using the aircraft.

“As we reach this milestone, we thank and recognise our customer for their trust in Omni, our team for their tremendous hard work and our technical partners at VIH Aerospace and HeliOperations for their professionalism in helping us organise the service at very short notice late in 2022,” says a spokesperson.

Omni announced a new SAR service in Guyana in March 2023.
