The first H135 with Airbus Helicopters' Helionix avionics system has begun operating in Russia. The rotorcraft was recently purchased by a private client to replace a previous version of the H135.

“Today the H135 is the most affordable twin-engine helicopter on the market that is approved for instrument flights,” says Dmitry Perepelkin, director of the Airbus Helicopter Division in Russia. “The four-channel autopilot in combination with the Helionix avionics suite significantly reduces pilot workload. Due to its reliability and ease of maintenance, as well as the absence of the need for an operator, the H135 is ideal for private owners who prefer twin-engine technology.”

As of May 2021, 18 units of this type are registered in Russia. By the end of the year, Airbus plans to deliver two more new Н135s to the Russian market, with a further delivery contracted for 2022.

The H135 is a light multipurpose twin-engine helicopter with a maximum curb weight of 2,980 kg. Last year, EASA approved an increase in the H135 alternative gross weight to 3,100 kg, which will provide customers with an additional 120 kg of load. It is expected that in Russia a similar certification will be obtained by the end of 2021.

More than 1,400 H135 helicopters are operated by 296 operators in 65 countries. They are used for passenger transport in private and business aviation, for ambulance missions and in the oil and gas sector.
