Leonardo's AW109 Trekker has been issued with type certification by EASA and deliveries will commence in the first quarter of 2018. Based on the popular AW109/Grand range of helicopters, the Trekker is equipped with skid landing gear and a Genesys Aerosystems glass cockpit. The display system provides pilots with the necessary information to reduce workload while flying in challenging environments and demanding weather conditions. It has been designed to retain the flying qualities, manoeuvrability, robustness, advanced navigational capabilities and safety features of the other light twin helicopters produced by Leonardo. Power is provided by two FADEC-equipped Pratt & Whitney Canada PW207C turbine engines.
Its spacious cabin, which is the same size as the Grand/GrandNew, can accommodate up to six passengers, or one stretcher with three to four medical attendants, or two stretchers and two medical attendants. Orders for more than 40 units have been placed to date.
