Clay Lacy Aviation has earned FAA approval to amend its FANS 1/A+ STC, which includes ADS-B Out, CPDLC, ADS-C and Link 2000+/ATN B1, to include the Gulfstream GV. The STC provides operators the choice of using a Honeywell Aero H satcom solution, Gogo ST-4300 Iridium connection or a standalone datalink connection with TSO approval.
Originally approved in 2015, the Clay Lacy STC already covered Gulfstream GIV and GIV-SP models, and was the first FAA-approved FANS STC for those aircraft. According to data available from Amstat Corp, more than four hundred Gulfstream GIV, GIV-SP and GV aircraft still have not installed ADS-B Out, with just nine months remaining before the FAA's January 1, 2020 deadline.
This FANS STC is designed to be a feature-rich, cost-and-time effective solution that allows clients to comply with the January 2020 FAA avionics mandate. It typically costs less than US$300,000, with an average downtime of fourteen days. Clay Lacy also offers a FANS 1/A+ STC for Bombardier Challenger 601-3A/601-3R aircraft.
To date, Clay Lacy STCs have been installed on six Gulfstream GIV-SP jets, two Challenger 601-3A, and two Gulfstream GV aircraft. Slots are still available in 2019 at Clay Lacy's FAA Part 145 repair station at Van Nuys airport, and clients can also use their preferred Universal Avionics dealer for installation under this STC.
