RUAG completes comprehensive Challenger upgrade
In addition to the integration of ADS-B Out avionics on a CL604, the RUAG team developed a minor modification for the replacement of ageing LED lighting. The owner used the downtime to refresh the interior.
Cabin modifications were completed during the downtime.

RUAG MRO International has fulfilled avionics and cabin interior upgrades on a Bombardier Challenger 604 at its aircraft maintenance facilities at Munich-Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. The project ensured compliance with the ADS-B Out 2020 mandate and included the installation of cabin interior LED lighting.

The owner of the Challenger 604 opted to integrate an ADS-B Out avionics upgrade in order to comply with EASA's 2020 mandate, which is set to go into effect on 7 June. The team also fulfilled cabin modifications on the aircraft during the same downtime, saving the owner time and costs.

RUAG’s in-house engineering and cabin interior shops ensured the project was completed on time and according to customer specifications. In addition to the integration of ADS-B Out avionics on the flight deck, the engineering team developed a minor modification for the upgrade and replacement of ageing LED lighting. The owner also used the downtime to refresh the cabin interior.

“Aircraft availability for continuous and profitable operations is a priority for our customers. We’re keen to ensure their aircraft are equipped and ready for a smooth transition on the EASA 2020 mandate target date,” states Christian Karl, head of sales, business jets. “Our one-stop shop approach to aircraft services combines with our team’s expertise in Bombardier business aircraft to provide our business jet community with reliable support and the benefits of optimised downtimes.”
