Jet Aviation Dubai has completed and redelivered the region's first 4C-Check on a Dassault Falcon 50. The inspection was combined with FMS upgrades, light cabin refurbishments and mandatory ADS-B implementation. In tandem, the company also redelivered a 144-month check on a G450 and a 192-month check on G-IV, both requiring extensive structural repairs. The company is currently performing a C-check on a BBJ.
The 4C maintenance inspection on the Dassault Falcon 50 is a milestone maintenance event due 24 years after service entry that requires extensive removal and subsequent reinstallation of the aircraft's structures and systems for detailed inspections. With this Falcon 4C inspection, the aircraft cabin was entirely stripped, the three engines were removed and sent to the engine shop, and the landing gear was replaced. The more than 8,000 dedicated man-hour project was achieved by sharing expertise and resources with the company's Dassault Falcon centre of excellence in Basel, Switzerland, demonstrating Jet Aviation's global MRO expertise and footprint.
During the Falcon 4C inspection, the Dubai facility was further occupied with major Gulfstream inspections on a G450 and GIV. Combined with a limited cabin refresh, the company redelivered a 144-month check on the G450 to a long-standing customer. For a long-term Jet Aviation network customer, the Dubai MRO team also completed and redelivered a 192-month check on a G-IV. This inspection required major structural work, totalling more than 5,000 man-hours.
“Completing the region's first Falcon 4C-check alongside major inspections on the Gulfstream fleet truly demonstrates the breadth and scope of our maintenance team's capabilities, as well as the strength of our MRO network,” says Prabhat Gummadi, maintenance director Dubai. “I would like to express my gratitude to our customers for the confidence they place in our Dubai team, as well as appreciation for our network. The MRO teams across our network have always supported each other, but the collaboration that increased significantly with the launch of our global AOG service in 2018 is supporting a truly seamless service for the benefit of our customers.”
Jet Aviation recently established a dedicated team of interior specialists in Dubai. The company is currently building an Interior shop with tooling to offer limited refurbishment capabilities. In the meantime, its interior services team is assisting with cabin removals and reinstallations, also making on-wing repairs such as varnish touch ups, leather reparations, carpeting and interior paint.
Hardy Butschi, VP of regional operations Middle East and general manager Dubai, states: “Customers appreciate our experience, expertise and flexibility with large inspections and regularly take the opportunity to combine scheduled maintenance with other service offerings. Combining scheduled inspections with other service offerings is our way of delivering the highest benefit to our customers, and we look forward to further expanding our Interior service capabilities in the New Year.”
Jet Aviation has been operating at Dubai International Airport (DXB) since 2005 and was the first business aviation service provider to establish a maintenance facility at the airport. The company has been operating in the region for over 40 years, where it has the largest FBO network, including two IS-BAH Stage II-certified facilities in Dubai and four similarly accredited FBOs in Saudi Arabia, all of which are supported by the Dubai MRO facility.
