Gulfstream expands MRO services to Arizona
A $70 million MRO facility is anticipated to obtain LEED Silver certification, and Gulfstream is designing it with sustainable operations in mind. Partnerships with nearby education facilities will create career prospects.
The Mesa service centre will offer a range of services and add additional capacity for customers in the western United States, and the facility will feature a sustainable design.

Gulfstream Aerospace will construct a 225,000 sq ft MRO facility at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airport in Arizona and expects it to open in 2023. In addition, it has also announced employment partnerships with Arizona State University and Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The facility represents a $70 million investment by Gulfstream, and will include hangar space and employee and customer offices. It is anticipated to obtain LEED Silver certification, and Gulfstream is designing the facility with sustainable operations in mind. It will feature a fuel farm with a dedicated SAF supply; low-flow plumbing fixtures; LED lighting; building management systems and an energy-efficient HVAC system. Designers are also incorporating occupancy sensor-controlled lights, a white roof to reflect heat, native plants and low-water-demand landscaping. It is also working with the airport authority to explore using green power from the electrical utility and installing solar panels on-site.

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is an ideal location for Gulfstream's newest MRO facility,” says Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Customer Support. “Not only is it an established airport for business aviation operators, its infrastructure and size provide a great location for both Gulfstream and our customers. Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Arizona State University and local school districts have been involved with us since the beginning to offer certificate, degree and training programmes that will translate directly to careers at Gulfstream. The new facility and the job creation that will follow are great news for our customers, our employees and the community.”

The Arizona service centre complements Gulfstream's growing network and follows expansions in Savannah, Georgia; Van Nuys, California; Fort Worth, Texas; Palm Beach, Florida; Appleton, Wisconsin; and Farnborough, UK.
