Stuttgarter Flugdienst comes off the map as Atlas takes over
Atlas Air Service, founded in 1970, has carved out a solid reputation for itself in northern Germany. With Stuttgarter Flugdienst now insolvent, Atlas will take on its staff to consolidate operations.
The operations and staff of Stuttgarter Flugdienst will be taken over by Atlas Air Service.

Atlas Air Service of Bremen, Germany, has taken over insolvent charter company Stuttgarter Flugdienst (SFD). All of SFD’s employees will be absorbed by the new investor.

Atlas Air Service is now based with offices and two charter aircraft at the general aviation terminal of Stuttgart airport. Its Cessna Citation CJ3+ light jet is designed for six passengers, while a Citation Encore midsize jet offers space for eight persons on direct flights within Europe.

“We are very pleased to have successfully negotiated the takeover of the insolvent Stuttgarter Flugdienst. The long-term preservation of jobs and the continuation of charter flight operations for our customers without interruption had top priority. We now have a total of nine aircraft at our locations in Bremen and Stuttgart. Of course we serve all airports in Europe,” says Atlas CEO Nicolas von Mende.

The family-owned company was founded in 1970 and, in addition to charter, offers sale, acquisition and maintenance of jets in its service centres in Bremen and Augsburg.
