In the mid 1970s Cessna developed the Cessna 441 Conquest II from its 404 Titan, to fill the gap between their piston engine and jet aircraft. Its first flight was in 1975 and the 441 entered production in 1977. Production ceased in 1987.
The original design was known as the Model 435, and was to be powered by Continental GTSIO 520X engines with three bladed propellers. By 1975, the designed evolved into the Honeywell TPE 331 turboprop powered Model 441. It was certified by the FAA on 19 August, 1977 and was renamed the Cessna 441 Conquest II in 1983.
A smaller aircraft was marketed as the Cessna 425 Conquest I, itself a turbine development of the Cessna 421.
